It can also guide every individual in the prevention of disease and long term maintenance of health. To achieve this balanced state of body, mind and consciousness, Ayurveda prescribes Kerala Panchakarma Therapy for the cleansing of body toxins.

What is a Kerala Panchakarma treatment?
Panchakarma is a Sanskrit word. ‘Pancha’ Means Five and ‘Karma’ means treatment methods. Therapeutic measures the aim of Panchakarma Therapies is to purify and detoxify the body. It helps the unhealthy person to get rid chronic diseases and is for a healthy person a preventive treatment to be physically and mentally fit.

The Kerala Panchakarma treatment balances all Tridosha’s (Vata- Ether plus Air, Pitta-Fire plus Water and Kapha-Water plus Earth- Three Bio Energies- Body Constitution).
Ayurveda considers a Panchakarma treatment necessary before the start of any other treatment. The logic is that a cloth needs to be purified or cleansed of dust and impurities before it can be imparted a new colour similarly the body too needs to be purified before it can be imparted new colours of youthfulness, health and vigour.

Steps in a Kerala Panchakarma treatment

The first step in Kerala Panchakarma is the process of oleation, which initiates the purification process by loosening ama, in the tissues. Oleation is accomplished by special massages using herbalized oils or by taking certain oils internally.

The second step in the Kerala Panchakarma treatment is to heat the body using specific steam and warm oil therapies. This is known as Swedana in Ayurveda. Using therapeutic heat allows the loosened toxins to flow more easily from the tissues to the gastrointestinal tract.
